Today is the first in
a series of articles about the small business website. The last article will
cover improving position on the internet. But first less just look at the
numbers. We at Vultran Creative Marketing Group, located in Wilmington, DE want
you to start thinking about your site as a full scale business. Put the same time in developing a position on
the web as you would on your store front. As a business owner, you understand
the importance of knowing your perfect customer. Now, with that said, what is
the best way to reach your
customers, Yellow pages, TV, twitter, or Facebook, do they have an Android
phone or Apple phone or blackberry device, tablet device, laptop or desktop? So, you
have a website but do you have a presence on the web. What comes up when you
search for your store online? Are you able to reach customers who use different
devices or search different ways? Let’s look at the numbers and at the end
think how many searches tweets etc. were for your company.
Social Network by Numbers

Some disclaimers are obviously in
order here:
- On Twitter, every post counts as a “tweet” no matter if
it’s an original tweet, a comment from another user, a link being shared,
a retweet, etc. All of those are rolled into one number.
- Facebook’s number is only status updates. It doesn’t include
comments from other users on someone’s status update, nor does it includes
“likes” of a status update — both of which are popular activities on
Facebook. More importantly, it also doesn’t include photos, links, notes,
and all the other types of user activity that happen on Facebook.
The
difference in how all three social networking sites operate underscores the
challenge in trying to compare activity levels. One suspects that, if Facebook
provided specific numbers about comments, likes, photos, links, and so forth —
i.e., more than just status updates — it would be significantly ahead of
Twitter, despite the impressive growth in the numbers of tweets. Recent worldwide estimates for Google, Yahoo and Bing and did some
division to come up with the figures below:
- Google: 34,000 searches per second (2 million per minute; 121 million per hour; 3 billion
per day; 88 billion per month, figures rounded)
- Yahoo: 3,200 searches per second (194,000 per minute; 12 million per hour; 280 million
per day; 8.4 billion per month, figures rounded)
- Bing: 927 searches per second (56,000 per minute; 3 million per hour; 80 million per
day; 4 billion per month, figures rounded)
When asked if Google would provided
some official figures, but they’d only say that each day there are more than 1
billion searches that happen on Google. That means at least 10,000 searches per
second officially, at minimum.

Mazza Indian Foods

Mazza Indian Foods came to Vultran on with just a menu printed and in 5
business days had a website completed and up on the "net" for the world
to view. Mazza Indian Restaurant utilized the full service of the
Vultran! We shot the pictures, provided the verbiage, and gave the owner
of Mazza Indian Foods the website he desired. Now with more work in the
pipeline for Vultran, we plan on providing this new restaurant with all
the marketing tools (including t-shirts) his business may need to aid
in making this unique brand successful.
